FACE means so many things in Chinese culture. It is an important aspect of who we are, how we connect to the world, the expression of our inner organs and spirits, and most importantly, the window of observation on our vital health. I remember when I was a little girl, I often heard the Chinese adults analyzing children's faces, making comments like... "See this boy's ear, so much good luck for his life" "This little girl's eyes are full of spirit" Sometimes, mom will tell us: "You must drink some soup to nourish your blood, your face looks so pale"... I can give you hundreds of comments on people's faces, either the judgement of once's health or simply fortune tellings on their children. We connect to our world through our faces. How we observe environment through our eyes, ear, nose, tongue, mouth and sensing everything that we experience every moment every day. The face links to one's energy channel system, certain areas correspond to one's internal Zang Fu (organs) which are integral parts of our living body. Face shows colors and expresses one's inner world and what we need to balance our health. Face is also connects to our lymphatic nerves, central nervous system, and our Shen, the spirit of our being. When we nourish our face, we also giving the opportunity to connect all of above and whole system of Jing , Qi, and Shen, and make sure that our spirit is comfortable living in this body "house."
