In the past years, Lorelei has been teaching the five elements, Zi Wu Liu Zhu (biological clock of human body) and the 12 primary meridians. These are all parts of the energy system. For this year, Lorelei is excited to share the 12 Sinew Channels, which is the network that connects to our tendons and muscles. The pathways are very similar to the energy channels.

It is described in the Huang Di Nei Jing, Ling Shu section. Ling Shu is an ancient Chinese medical text, which has been used as the foundation of healing tradition for thousands of years. It's said that sinew channels are the human body's anatomical and functional structures. In the Ling Shu, it is called "Jin Jing". "Jin" in Chinese means sinew or tendons, "Jing" or "Jing Luo".

Ancient Daoist believed that Qi, the life force, travels through different layers of body. One of the most familiar Qigong terms that we use, Wei Qi, the Protective Qi, runs on the sinew channels.

Healthy sinew and tendons are important for our Wei Qi because that is where Wei Qi travels. When there is free flowing of qi in the body, Wei Qi can fully function by keeping the pathogens out of our body. Beside supporting the Wei Qi in our body, here are some functions of sinew channels that we need to know:

Sinew channels help to unify the "hundred bones"
Sinew channels connect in joints to facilitate articulation
Sinew channels distribute qi into large muscles as they divide again after joins.

This particular form was based on the Chinese medicine doctor, Sun Lei's teaching and Lorelei's understanding of the myofascial, body dynamic, and anatomy. Lorelei is excited to share this simple, but powerful qigong form to support sinew channels qi flow, and strengthen muscle and tendons function as well.
