dancEnlight "The Way" World Premiere on March 29, 30 & 31 | | | The Chinese character for tea, pronounced cha in Chinese, depicts flowers or a grass symbol on top, wood at the bottom and a man between the two. As tea can help bring humankind into balance with nature, this symbol makes evident the importance of tea in Chinese culture.
In this evening of performance, dancEnlight director, Lorelei Chang delves into the cultural roots and beauty of The Way through traditional Chinese tea ceremony, martial arts and Chinese calligraphy. Ms. Chang and her company of dancers will be joined by regular guest choreographer and performer, Mai Nakanishi from Tokyo, Japan, as well as by guest musician Joseph Getter, Tea Master & Chinese musician Helen Grzelak, and actor Michael McDermott. Come have a cup of tea with us; experience this precious culture through original choreography; bask in authentic live classical Chinese music; taste and smell the delicate aromas of the highest quality tea. We are also very pleased that Ting Chaponis, owner of the Green Tea House, will be participating in our event. Tea tasting will be presented by both the Green Tea House and Lotus Leaf Tea for all three performances. Do not miss this opportunity to satisfy both your eyes and your palate in this exceptional evening with dancEnlight.
For ticket please call Charter Oak Cultural Center at 860-249-1207
